Notater - Conon, also known as Faucon, was born about 1005. He came from the north-west of the Franche-Comté where his family held important estates. Thanks to Hugues I de Salins, archbishop of Besançon, he established himself in Montfaucon where he built a fortress of the same name.
Among the nobles present at an assembly held in 1040 by their liege lord Renaud I, comte de Bourgogne, and Archbishop Hugues I de Salins, was Conon or Conrad de Montfaucon (Chuono de Montefalchonis). He was among the major beneficiaries of the Church of Saint-Étienne of Besançon, from which he held lands on the left bank of the Doubs near Besançon. It was there that he built his fortress. By an unknown wife he had three sons, Richard I, Hugues II and Meynier, of whom Richard I would have progeny and Hugues II would embark on a Church career, becoming archbishop of Besançon in 1067.
Conon died after 1040.
